John Rose is a professor of practice who teaches a variety of classes, including several on civil discourse. He also directs the Morehead-Cain Scholarship Foundation’s Dialogue and Discourse Program. At Duke University, he served as the associate director of the Civil Discourse Project. Rose’s course “How to Think in An Age of Political Polarization” has helped hundreds of students learn to disagree better and has inspired similar courses at 70 colleges and universities across the country. His public-facing publications include “Liberate the College Classroom.” His research interests are virtue ethics and Christian theology. Rose earned a PhD at Princeton Seminary and is the author of Until Our Minds Rest in Thee: Open-Mindedness, Intellectual Diversity, and the Christian Life.
